Lecture : Some Practical Considerations ( 2 of 4 )

چکیده
• Statistically. There is often noise in the input data, and we might want to make claims about the unobserved processes that generate the observed data. In this case, A might be the hypothesized data, e.g., that has some nice structure; we observe and are working with à = A+E, where E might be Gaussian noise, Gaussian plus spiked noise, or whatever; and we want to makeclaims that algorithms we run on à say something about the unobserved A.

Lecture : Some Practical Considerations ( 4 of 4 )
Today, we will continue talking about the connection between non-linear dimensionality reduction methods and diffusions and random walks. We will also describe several methods for constructing graphs that are “semi-supervised,” in the sense that that there are labels associated with some of the data points, and we will use these labels in the process of constructing the graph. These will give r...
متن کاملPractical Anatomy as an Advance Organizer for Anatomy Lectures: Effectiveness in Learning Facilitation for Dental Students
Introduction: Several approaches are introduced to facilitate anatomy learning. One of them is to present practical course before the theoretical one. This study compared the effect of presentation of practical class before lecture on enhancement of learning among dental students of Babol University of Medical Sciences. Methods: Thirty eight students of first semester in school of dentistry of...
متن کاملLecture : Some Practical Considerations ( 1 of 4 ) Lecturer
Today, we will shift gears. So far, we have gone over the theory of graph partitioning, including spectral (and non-spectral) methods, focusing on why and when they work. Now, we will describe a little about how and where these methods are used. In particular, for the next few classes, we will talk somewhat informally about some practical issues, e.g., how spectral clustering is done in practic...
متن کاملLecture 5 Design of Experiments and Confidence
In this lecture I’d like to discuss some very general considerations having to do with design of experiments, relating them to the linear regression model and eventually to their implications for making inferences about models with elliptical confidence regions. In light of these considerations, it is perhaps useful to review some basic facts about confidence regions for parameters in the class...
متن کاملComparing the Effects of Lecture and Work in Small Groups on Learning of Head and Neck Osteology in Medical Students
Introduction: Traditional teaching methods cannot keep up with the new knowledge in medical students anymore. There are several challenges between traditional and new teaching methods in different courses .This study has tried to compare the effects of two teaching approaches on education of osteology( lecture VS work in small groups). Methods: In a quasi experimental study, 54 medical stude...
